The Frost, The Sun and The Wind tells stories of violations of human rights through dehumanisation, war and political upheaval through a personal lens. In the Australian educational system where the consequences of the Holocaust often are not taught before history becomes an elective, and with Neo-Nazis marching in our streets, it is important to emphasise the continued relevance of historical stories and their role in education and the protection of marginalised groups today.

The Frost, The Sun and The Wind intends to promote peace and combat fascism by familiarising the audience with the patterns that enable it. We will connect with everyday people through a personal family story whilst also preserving an important piece of family history.

The Frost, The Sun and The Wind aspires to shift cultural attitudes and build empathy towards those fleeing war. We hope this will effect positive change in policy towards refugees and asylum seekers. Our aim is to encourage critical thinking in everyday people so that they can become familiar with the patterns and consequences of fascism and ultimately resist it gaining a hold in our society. We endeavour to bring awareness to the practice of scapegoating as a political device, and immunise viewers against repeating history by showing its consequences.

The Frost, The Sun and The Wind will be screened in front of national and international audiences which political figures and representatives of key institutions are likely to attend. Everyday voters, marginalised community members and activists will also have access to this film via festivals, and the relevance to history taught in high schools could deliver this documentary to students. After the film festival run, we can extend it’s longevity by selling the film to educators or relevant companies so it can continue to fill its purpose and spread its message.
